Robert Buckendorf, PhD, CCC-SLP
Robert Buckendorf, PhD, the practice manager, received his master’s degree in 1975 from Idaho State University and PhD in 1997 from Wichita State University. Dr. Buckendorf worked in schools until opening a private practice in 1979 which continued through 1999. He was an assistant professor at Oregon Health & Science University from 1999 through 2006 where he remains on faculty as a clinical assistant professor. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Portland State University. He re-opened his private practice in association with his son, Brandon Buckendorf, MA, CCC-SLP and daughter-in-law, Tracy Buckendorf, MA, CCC-SLP in 2006.
His interests are in pediatric speech and language disabilities including autism, language disorders, phonological disorders, cranio-facial disorders, and fluency disorders. He is past president of the Oregon Speech and Hearing Association and of the Oregon Academy of Speech Pathology and Audiology, and was on the board of the Northwest Early Childhood Institute. He presents nationally and internationally on the topic of child directed interventions for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, edited the text Autism: A Guide for Educators, Clinicians, and Parents (2008, Thinking Publications), and has co-authored several book chapters on Speech-Language pathology topics. He has received the ACE award for continuing education from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).
His professional interests include outcomes research with children with language disabilities and he has been involved in several clinical outcome trials.

Janet Murphy, MS, CCC-SLP
Janet Murphy received her Master’s degree from Portland State University in 1996. She worked in schools from 1996 through 2008, and has since been in a clinical practice. She has more than 15 years experience diagnosing and treating pediatric speech and language disorders. Her interests are in pediatric speech and language disabilities including autism, early childhood language, articulation and phonological disorders. She is currently focusing on early language and literacy development including reading comprehension and vocabulary development. She has received the ACE award for continuing education from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association. Janet believes in partnering with parents in helping their children to become more competent communicators. She provides suggestions for home practice so that parents are able to continue communication practice throughout the week. Janet’s personal interests include camping, walking, hiking, skiing, dancing and reading as well as spending time with her husband Nery.

Angela M Boyer, MS, CCC-SLP
Angela earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Theater from Willamette University in 2001 and received a Master of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences from PSU in 2005.
Angela worked at the Child Development and Rehabilitation Center at OHSU and at Shriner’s Hospital as a Clinical Fellow. She then worked in Salem as an elementary and middle school speech language pathologist for 4 1/2 years.
With more than 6 years of experience, she began a private speech language pathology practice and is excited to also be working with Buckendorf and Associates. With the pediatric population, she especially enjoys and has extensive training and experience working with people who stutter, children with cleft lip or palates, language disorders, narrative development, articulation disorders, voice disorders and autism. Angela likes to challenge her clients in a fun and open atmosphere. She partners with families in order to expedite therapy and in order
to facilitate generalization of new speech and language accomplishments. As for adults, she enjoys working on accent modification, stuttering, voice disorders, and the transgender voice.
She is certified in Evidence Based Accent Modification by Amee Shah Ph.D., CCC-SLP.
Her personal interests include hiking, qigong, nutrition, travel and the performing arts. She enjoys spending time with her husband Daniel, and her daughter Grace.

Jolene Buckendorf, RN
Jolene is the co-practice manager of Buckendorf Associates. Her responsibilities include scheduling patients, reimbursement, and general practice management responsibilities.
She received a BS in nursing from Idaho State University in 1976. She worked as a pediatric RN, primarily in private pediatric clinics since that time.

Kim Turner, MA-CCC, SLP
After working in the educational non-profit field in Portland for several years, Kim pursued a career in speech-language pathology so that she could work more closely with children and their families. She graduated from the Master’s program in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2010. She completed her Clinical Fellowship in the Denver Metro area with a focus on early intervention. She continued providing in-home speech therapy for young children and their families until she moved back to Portland. Kim is excited to be part of the team at Buckendorf Associates.
Kim especially enjoys working with children and their families in the early years of language acquisition and supporting children with play-based therapy. She has experience in the areas of expressive and receptive language delays, speech articulation, autism, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). She is also certified in the Hanen It Takes Two to Talk Program. Kim finds it a privilege and a joy to be a part of children’s growth and to support parents in applying strategies to day-to-day activities.
Kim’s personal interests include running, snow shoeing, traveling to visit friends and family, as well as sampling local ice cream treats.

Laura Holden, MS, CCC-SLP
Laura earned a B.A. in Psychology from Seattle University in 2006 and completed her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Portland State University in June 2012. Laura completed her Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) here at Buckendorf Associates, and is thrilled to be part of our team.
Laura’s professional interests include early intervention, autism spectrum disorders, social communication, speech sound development, phonological awareness, and fluency. Laura loves collaborating with families to help their children improve their communication skills so that they can be more successful and effective communicators in their social world.
Laura’s personal interests include hiking, DIY projects, visiting with family and friends, and she adores animals. She also loves spending time with her husband, Zach, and their dog, Brewser.
